State Legislative Committees

The basic committee in both the Senate and Assembly is the standing reference committee which is assigned jurisdiction over a particular subject area. A bill once introduced is usually referred to the appropriate standing committee. To obtain information about the status of bills, call 800-792-8630 or 609-292-4840.

The text of bills may be secured by writing to the Bill Room, State House, P.O. Box 068, Trenton, NJ 08625-0068 or by calling 609-292-6395. To testify at a bill hearing or for more detailed information, call the Office of Legislative Services committee staffer.
